Association
Profile
The South Australian Stud Merino Sheepbreeders Association began around
1922, at the same time as the first volume of the Register of Stud Merino
Flocks of Australia was published.
It’s first President, WG Hawkes of Koonoona Stud, Burra, SA, was
elected in 1931.
The SA Association had 30 members in those early days and now, in 2007,
has 150 members. Nine life members have been appointed since inception.
