Peter and Marianne Wallis, Glenlea Park, specialise in high performance merino breeding. Our aim is to continually deliver advanced genetics that improve commercial returns. With the help of our classer/adviser, Bill Walker, Classings Ltd, our sheep are assessed through subjective and objective testing to achieve these goals. All of our sheep are benchmarked with ASBV’s. Our adult stud ewe flock averages around 8kg of 19.5micron wool and we are aiming for 120% lambing per year. Our sheep are typically big, plain bodied and long stapled with an emphasis placed on deep bold crimping white wools. In 2011 our hoggets wool sold for 1439 cents per kilogram. Our 2011 sale rams averaged 18.4 micron, 15.1cv, 2.8sd, 99.7cf and 98.7kgs body weight. Our sale rams averaged $1525. This year’s ram lambs are looking terrific with the first progeny of Wallaloo Park 988 (purchased for $21,000). We have a small but quality selection of progeny from Glenlea Park 090004 (sold to William Lynch and 4 other semen shareholders for $10,000 at Classings Classic 2010).   All lambs from this sire are ET bred. Over the past two years we have sold rams to every mainland state in Australia and New Zealand. By all reports our stock are performing well across this diverse range of climates. A complimentary classing service is offered to all commercial clients of Glenlea Park. Our commercial clients continue to report great returns and new clients are often pleasantly surprised at how the Glenlea Park progeny perform. Commercial success of our clients is our ultimate measure of performance. This year you can see Glenlea Park rams at Bendigo, Karoonda and Hamilton. We will be selling at Hamilton, Adelaide and Classings. Our on property ram sale, where we offer 100 rams for sale, will be held on Friday August 17th. Inspection of our stock is always welcome by appointment.
