Ridgway’s Ric & Gail Ridgway and their son Matt enter the 2012 breeding and selling season on a high after coming off their best ever year of sales yet.

Recognition for their depth of quality in their offerings of very industry relevant Poll Merino rams again resulted in increased sales success. Rams went to six states in 2011 with the highlight being their Classings Classic result. They topped this sale at $32,000 with a ram sold to the Daniell family’s White River stud and also averaged $6662 for their offering of 17 specially selected rams. This followed on from their on-property sale and Hamilton Sheepvention offerings, totalling 150 rams and all clearing at an average of $1609.

Another sign of Ridgway’s increased recognition within the Merino industry was the sale of 14 Ridgway rams to other studs in 2011.
 

The typical Ridgway Poll Merino is big, plain bodied and highly fertile, carrying long-stapled, deeply crimped and free growing fine-medium wools on a thin and free skin. Pursuit of this type has been undertaken with a careful breeding plan and patience to ensure fibre density has also been maintained.
 

In line with the increasing demand over the years, Ric & Gail have also been working on increasing sale numbers of quality rams, ensuring their main line of on-property sale rams is affordable for all commercial sheep producers.
 

Ridgway will again be displaying in Victoria at Hamilton and Bendigo in 2012 along with the Karoonda and Keith Merino field days on late July.
 

There will be 170 top quality rams on offer at their annual on-property sale on the 13^th August at Kulkami, while teams of specially selected rams will again be offered at Hamilton in August and the Classings Classic in late September.
