Southrose Merino & Poll Merino Stud was established in 1988 by Jim and Hilary Ashby and is now run by their eldest son Jono and his wife Hazel. Southrose has a history of breeding sheep that consistently produce high volumes of outstanding fine/medium to medium wool in a range of environments, from the extremes of pastoral grazing country through to high rainfall areas. In recent years, Southrose has focused on maintaining that wool quality and volume while encouraging early maturity and bigger, plainer frames. The combination of this breeding program, along with a commitment to increasing fertility and mothering ability, has ensured that Southrose clients achieve results in their wool clip, lambing and at sale yards. Throughout the year, Southrose will be at regional sales and field days and will have rams available at its annual on-property sale in September and by private selection.
