Come and see the quality of Yorke Peninsula Rams

The Yorke Peninsula Merino Breeders extend a warm welcome to breeders and visitors to its field day events that include general displays and auctions.

The past twelve months have been a test for the YP Merino Breeders with the lack of rain. This hasn’t stopped any breeders from not producing early maturing, large framed sheep with strong constitution and excellent white stylish heavy cutting wool that the YP Breeders are renowned for.

Who would have thought that young ewes are still continually setting exceptionally high prices at the sale yards this year? Meat and Wool prices continue to remain high giving the farmer an extra incentive to continue breeding sheep.

YP Merino Breeders continue to buy quality rams and semen from the best sources to ensure that they are breeding sheep that make dollars for you, the client.

We are proud of the sheep we produce on YP and the Merino breeders continue to provide new genetics for the clients who continue supporting their local Merino breeders.

A sincere thank you to our individual sponsors for their ongoing support. We look forward to seeing you at our field days so you can experience the YP hospitality.

It is wonderful to see that young ewes are continually setting exceptionally high prices at the sale yards. Meat prices also continue to be high. Wool prices in the past 12 months have gone from strength to strength. Prices in wool and ewes remain high and makes the farmer have an extra incentive to continue breeding sheep.

Eyre Peninsula Merino and Poll Pre-Sale Expo

Where:
Wudinna Showground Sheep Pavillion
When: Monday 8th July 2019
Times: From 10am. Food  & refreshments available.

DUAL PURPOSE ATTRIBUTE STAND OUT ON EYRE PENINSULA

Welcome to the 2019 EP Merino & Poll Merino selling season.

On Monday July 8th, our association will be holding its annual Merino and Poll Merino Expo at Wudinna with approximately 200 rams on display.

Eyre Peninsula continues to be a popular area to source genetics. I am sure your sire requirements can be sourced from our member’s studs.

The dual purpose EP Merinos and Poll Merinos continue to lead the way for profitability with early maturing progeny that produce heavy carcase and fleece weights.

I believe the future of our true dual purpose Merino has never been better, with strong meat and wool prices. I would like to congratulate our members for their dedication to the Merino industry.

I would like to personally invite you to our annual expo at Wudinna, inspection days and annual ram sales later in the year.

On behalf of the Association, I would like to acknowledge the generous support of our major sponsors Elders and gold sponsor Landmark and our silver and bronze sponsors. Please support the sponsors that support us.

I wish all members a successful ram selling season and a successful year for all involved in the industry.

Eyre Peninsula Stud Merino Breeders Association.

What: South East Merino Field Day
Where: Keith Stadium, on-property
When: Wednesday, 24 July 2019

On behalf of the South East Stud Merino Breeders Association, we welcome you to the South East Merino Field Day on July 24.

There will be 2 studs displaying on-property, and 31 studs displaying at the Keith Stadium, making it SA’s biggest Merino field day.

It will be a great opportunity for Merino breeders to view stud and commercial rams that will be offered for sale this selling season, privately, at on property sales and major multi-vendor sales.

Genetics sold from participating studs are influencing the Merino breed throughout the state, interstate and internationally. So, come along to a great event, the South East Field Day and see for yourself.

Karoonda and Districts Field Day

Where:
Murray Bridge Show Grounds
When: Friday 26th July 2019

The Karoonda & Districts Stud Merino Field Day members welcome all visitors to our 2019 Field Day event.

Last year’s field day  was well attended by commercial producers and industry representatives.  Many positive comments were received by studmasters on the very high quality of the heavy- cutting, dual-purpose stock with industry leading traits they had on display, for which our member studs are well known.

Ram sales results backed up these sentiments, with solid clearances at on-property and multi-vendor sales. Bloodlines from Mallee studs were highly sought after for their large frames, wool quality and cutting ability, and mothering ability.  Our congratulations are extended to these vendors, the astute purchasers, and the stud breeders.

This years’ Karoonda & Districts Stud Merino Field Day will once again be held at the Murray Bridge Showgrounds, on Friday, July 26.  Visitors can expect to see more of the same robust, large frame, high quality wool producing sheep that participating studs are renowned for, and astute breeders are seeking out.  The field day is a great opportunity to inspect a selection of rams that are to be offered at on-property and multi-vendor sales in 2019. Lunch and refreshments will be available throughout the day.

On behalf of the group, we look forward to welcoming you to the 2019 Field Day, and we wish every sheep producer much success in 2019.

Grant Johnson

President
